For me, good wifi connection is important. no wifi, that's not a tablet at all. The second thing matters much to me is downloading apps from market normally. Never want to be bothered by kicked out by market or failed to download. If that, lots of fun lost from android tablets.

It gets difficult to test installing apps from Google Market if the tablet does not normally include it. If a hack exists to install the Google Market (assuming the tablet does not include Google Market), we will test it.

Depends what you are looking for. For brand new, I would buy from a legitimate website. Nothing against eBay as I have bought tons of items but never a tablet.
I thing that I forgot to mention in my article is to buy an extended warranty (like Squaretrade). Tablets are too new to tell how reliable they will be two or three years from now. Buying an extended warranty will protect especially since these devices should be expensive to repair.

Great question but not sure if I have an answer. You definitely don't want to spend a lot. Depends what they will use it for. I like the Archos 70. It should work for them.
