I tried Fring last night and on the video test call both videos worked for about 10 seconds (my video showed up as a little window in the corner). But at the part where it said it would record me and play back my video to me it just showed a green screen and then force closed.
After that every time I tried to launch Fring it just immediately force closes.

Skype has had video chat for a while now..

After I wrote that Skype doesn't do video chat, I did some quick web searching to see if that changed because it has been rumored to change for quite some time. I did find that they have an unofficial app that works on some phones, like your HTC Thunderbolt.
Does it work well? I'm always very hesitant about installing unofficial apps to use services such as video chat, where I would be concerned about privacy.
I think I may just wait until Skype gets official video chat. The few people I'd want to Skype are old relatives and it would be too much a hassle to get them to switch to gchat."

received my tabs some days ago and in trying the app market I updated Skype (to 2.1.046). It said it would support video calls in a limited way - and it does: I can see the video from other party, but tablet video from there not visible. For me though not usable, as my micro/audio input is extremely poor, more noise than signal. Need to be allowed posting - so far
