I have a white PDN from Kohls and I see now that they have their own Android hack for it. Is it better to use their hack and follow their directions or use a hack from these forumns??? Their hack involves taking out the Micro SD card from inside the PDN...Any opinions before I do it???

Thanks.

Depends on what you are looking for from the hack...review the wiki for more.

I'm a newbie...but i'm looking to make my PDN as android oriented as possible....Is it absolutely necessary to remove the micro sd card when hacking?

Only if you use the Open Platform Hack from Pandigital or an open platform hack on here. Jackbox has a work around for that I believe in his thread on his modified firmware. Read the Wiki, it will give you the information you desire.

I tried with the pandigital method and I keep getting it start to update with the bar under the android, then I get the exclamation under the android so I assume that means it won't work.  Do I need to downgrade the software first then do it?

You may have a bad download.. corrupted file.. you may want to re-download and try again.

also make sure there is only one zip file on  the sd card..

Moving this from the Hardware section to the main PDN board.  Clearly this is software, and generic enough not to be in Development.

BTW, reading the wiki is required.

The 46mb file didn't work, but the 96mb file did work.  The small file was probably only meant to update the original rom I guess, but I had already changed the rom.  It's working perfect now with the 1/3 release from pandigital.  Now I just need a market fix.

What version of android is the pandigital update?  2.0 2.1 2.2

I have the latest firmware installed from PanDigital.net for the White 7". I thought it'd have the Android Market on it.
I read the one mod that said not to install over the latest PanDigital update; downgrading sounds like it would be a bit of an ordeal. Have not found a direct link for the other mod yet. I also read that what I want may cause deep sleep issues.
I am just looking to have the Android Market available. Is there a way to install just the Android Market, and if so, where do I find the needed files to download?
I mostly just install games and not really looking for anything more, except maybe Flash Player if that is possible.
If I can get some links, that would be cool.

Welcome.

Kewlguy's got the latest mod right now, but Please get acquainted with our boards before you flash.
In the wiki you will want to pay attention to the beginner section and Understanding the 2011 FWs.
There are links to modified FWs in the hacking section. Please follow all instructions carefully.

And, try the market only flash from Kewlguy in the first post of this thread.

My link

Also, flash lite is the best you can do on the PND, I believe there is a flash for it in the linked thread also. Please read mrsb's links and become familar with the WPND.

I have the white model and I can't finish the download of the the new update on the Panditial firmware. I get all the way to unplugging the device and pushing the volume + power button. I hold it for at least 10 seconds and all I see is the blurriness in the background and the option to power off or sleep mode. It won't go off and update and restart on it's own. Can anyone help? Thanks!

What you need to do is select "power off." Let it power off...

Then hold the Vol UP button up and power it on, while continuing to hold the volume up button.

You need to hold that button while turning it on, not while turning it off..

the WPDN that I just got is a android version with FW ver SH20_20110302_K_PD_INX7E_ENG_6410POP.

does this require the android FW update on their website?

No. The SH20 series FW is the android update. Pictures for comparison in this post here: White PDN Owners START HERE
