I'm wondering if my Lenovo Ideapad A2109 is now dead.
I dropped it a couple of days ago, and one corner of the case cracked, but everything else seemed ok. It also worked fine for at least 3 days like I hadn't dropped it.
Yesterday when I woke up it wouldn't come out of sleep. So I held the power button for a while until it rebooted. But it got stuck on the boot screen and is just doing a boot loop. I stuck a pin inside the reset button but same thing.
I finally decided to get into the system recovery and do a data wipe/factory reset. I thought that would have fixed it, but even after 2 factory resets, and wiping the cache partition it still does a bootloop.
You can try to reflash firmware to the tablet. It'll wipe out your apps and data but may bring life back to your tablet. You've already tried the regular options and they've failed. Reset button. Wipe factory data and cache.
Go to Lenovo site. Find the firmware and instructions to flash your tablet.
You're tablet maybe damaged internally if flashing firmware does not get it working again. You'll have to open it up to see what the physical damage is inside.
Reflashing tablet maybe all you need. Try that first to see what happens.
Well, I went to Lenovo and grabbed the download for A2109 tablet to have a look myself. I can't believe what I saw. Lenovo gave kernel source for your tablet but no actual firmware. I was wondering why the download was .tar.bz2. That is only used for Linux. Windows will use zip, rar or 7z for file compression. A developer can take that kernel source and build cyanogenmod for your tablet but that download is completely useless to any end user. I'm very surprised Lenovo doesn't provide firmware for the end user in their downloads.
Usually when grabbing firmware download from any tablet maker you will get:
- the flash program - either with the download or in another download
- drivers to recognize your tablet's ARM chip
- newer firmware
You have to contact Lenovo and see if they will provide you with the firmware and flash program.
You can also go to Lenovo forums. Search and will find info for A2109 ROMs. Ask in Lenovo forums and you'll get better and more help from Lenovo users.
k wow. thnx so much for spending the time looking into the file.
i'll take a look at the lenovo forums.
