I want to buy two 7" tablets for my kids and I'm wondering which ones to choose? I'm mainly considering tablets powered by AllWinner A20, A23, RockChip RK3066 and RK3168. Given prices are not that different, I'm wondering what the best choice is?
Each has their own advantage, the allwinners offering better battery life assuming the battery size is the same. The rk3066 is not a slouch however it is a power hog. The RK 3168 is slower but supposedly more batter efficient. The allwinners SHOULD be slower but just as power efficient as the rk 3168.
What you really should ask yourself is what you expect out of the device. Such as:
Is browsing speed a priority? If so the 3066 might be best.
Gaming/Apps usage will require a good cpu IF you care about compatibility with current and future apps as well as intensive games.
Will the tablet only be used for light media such as video and music, if so then performance is not whats most important, likely battery life is, then the all winner a20( or a23) or the rk 3168 are best( supposedly the a23 I think can offer alot of music time without the screen on, something allwinner claimed to have optimized the chipset for).
If they are using wifi, how great reception will it have, this is something tablet/make specific more than just chipset specific you need to find out.
Honestly with the trade offs I'd suggest stretching the budget.
Maybe look at A31, has good battery life and gaming. It really depends on how much gaming, and what level of gaming you expect. If they want the best gaming performance the 3066 is best. Just try to find a tablet that has a decent battery size, the 3066 is a power hog...
